About

Seattle based wildlife photographer focused in the Pacific Northwest, British Columbia and Polar regions

Back in the days of film, I was heavily involved in skydiving and freefall photography. One regretable day, after a hard canopy opening, I watched in dismay as my uninsured cameras tumbled to earth from 2,500 ft. The cameras were obviously destroyed and I never thought I'd revisit photography. A few years ago, while vacationing with my wife in Costa Rica, I randomly picked up her camera and began photographing hummingbirds. The experience instantly rekindled my desire to create intriguing images.

In the book Outliers, Malcolm Gladwell professes that it requires approximately 10,000 hours of practice to achieve mastery in a chosen field. This website is intended to share some of the photographs created during my 10,000 hour journey. I don't believe photography can be "mastered" in 10,000 hours, but it should serve as a nice milestone to see how my images evolve over time.

All animals pictured are wild and photographed in their natural environments.
